Pyrolox iron removal technology
Technical explanation
What is Pyrolox technology and what is it used for?
Pyrolox is a granular filter media for the removal of hydrogen sulfide, iron, and manganese. Through a natural chemical reaction, Pyrolox allows you to produce clean, high-quality water. The principle of action of Pyrolox is a catalytic reaction that oxidizes hydrogen sulfide, iron, and manganese on the Pyrolox medium. Using Pyrolox technology requires only daily backwashing, an action that flushes out trapped particles from the Pyrolox filter bed. Pyrolox media is a naturally occurring manganese dioxide mineral that is responsible for its use as an environmentally friendly water treatment filtration technology.
Pyrolox operating technology related specifications?
The operating technical specifications are listed below:
The pH value of the water quality should be between 5-9 pH (recommended pH is higher than 6.5)
Hydrogen sulfide content in water 10 mg/L
Iron content in water 10 mg/L
Manganese content in water 8 mg/L
What impurities in the water supply could cause problems with Pyrolox operation?
Yes, listed as follows: organic iron, sulfur, bacteria, tannin, chloride content of more than 500 mg / liter, water supply. Can affect the efficiency of Pyrolox technology.
What pH range is the ideal design range for Pyrolox technology?
Pyrolox technology works best in the pH range 5 to 9. The optimal pH is between 6.5 and 7.
What is the life expectancy of Pyrolox?
Pyrolox media can continue to function indefinitely. However, about an average of 10-15% of Pyrolox media per year is lost during backwashing and should therefore be replenished to ensure the efficiency of the Pyrolox equipment.
Why is daily backwash required when using Pyrolox technology?
Backwashing removes contaminants from the surface of the Pyrolox media for better performance. The principle is: Since the Pyrolox medium converts sulfur, iron, and manganese into particulate solids and absorbs them to cover the surface of the Pyrolox medium, this will weaken the oxidation ability of Pyrolox. Thorough backwashing cleans the Pyrolox media surface to continue the oxidizing chemistry.
Will chlorine in water destroy Pyrolox media?
Won't. In fact, we strongly recommend the use of chlorine or other oxidizing agents as they will extend the life of the Pyrolox media.
Do filter units with Pyrolox media require quartz sand pretreatment?
need. Because if there is no pretreatment of quartz sand, you will find that the distribution of positive flushing action of Pyrolox will be uneven.
