KDF copper-zinc alloy water treatment technology
Technical explanation
What are the different types of KDF technologies available? What are they used for?
KDF Technology has two media product families, both with their own unique, high-purity, granulated KDF media:
•KDF 55 Media – Designed to remove or reduce chlorine and water-soluble heavy metals. It can be used to control scale, bacteria and algae, and can also be used with hot water.
•KDF 85 Media – Removes or reduces iron sulfide and hydrogen sulfide from municipal tap water or other water supplies. Limescale, bacteria and algae can also be controlled.
•KDF-F (Fines) Media – Designed for chlorine removal and bacterial control, this is KDF media specifically designed for incorporation into carbon blocks and other matrix-based filter media.
•KDF-C (Coarse) media – granular type, used to remove or reduce soluble heavy metals and chlorine. Can be used when pressure drop needs to be reduced.
Both KDF 55 and KDF 85 media remove water-soluble lead, mercury, nickel, chromium and other dissolved metals up to 99%. All KDF media effectively control the accumulation of bacteria, algae, fungi and scales and are therefore ideally suited for use with activated carbon, ion exchange resins, and activated carbon blocks. No matter what KDF media you use, they can eliminate the need for additional injection chemicals in your water treatment design.
